What is Reflux Esophagitis?

Reflux esophagitis is a condition in which stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing inflammation of the esophageal lining. It can produce symptoms such as heartburn and throat discomfort, and is typically identified by endoscopy (gastroscopy). Contributing factors include diet, obesity, and aging.

If symptoms are present, lifestyle modifications — such as changes to diet, posture, and body weight — as well as medical treatment by a physician will be considered.
