What is Lung Nodule (Pulmonary Nodule)?

Also written asPulmonary nodule shadow / Nodule shadow

A lung nodule is a small, round shadow found on chest CT or X-ray. While most are benign — such as traces of past inflammation — some may represent early-stage lung cancer. Depending on size and appearance, follow-up observation or further diagnostic workup may be recommended.

How to interpret an out-of-range result

If a nodule is identified, a follow-up CT scan after a set interval or additional diagnostic testing may be considered based on its size and characteristics. Most nodules are benign, but a definitive determination cannot be made from imaging alone, so monitoring over time is standard practice.
