What is Helicobacter pylori Infection (H. pylori)?

Also written asH. pylori / H. pylori infection

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that infects the stomach lining and is associated with an increased risk of chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and stomach cancer. Infection can be detected through blood, urine, breath, or stool tests. If the result is positive, eradication therapy is considered.

How to interpret an out-of-range result

If an infection is confirmed, eradication therapy will be considered based on the findings together with gastroscopy results. Regular stomach check-ups are recommended even after successful eradication.
