What is Fasting Blood Glucose?

Fasting blood glucose is measured after a fast of at least 10 hours. It is a fundamental test used to diagnose diabetes and to assess whether glucose metabolism is abnormal, and is typically evaluated together with HbA1c.
Reference range guideline
Generally, 99 mg/dL or below is considered normal; 100–125 mg/dL is flagged as borderline on health screenings (including prediabetes); and 126 mg/dL or above is considered consistent with a diabetic pattern. (Thresholds may vary by facility and testing conditions.)

How to interpret an out-of-range result
