What is eGFR (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate)?
Also written as:Estimated GFR / eGFRcreat
eGFR is a value that estimates the kidney's filtering capacity based on serum creatinine level, age, and sex. Lower values indicate reduced kidney function, and eGFR is used to classify the severity of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Reference range guideline
A value of 60 mL/min/1.73㎡ or above is generally considered the benchmark. A value below 60 that persists for 3 months or longer becomes subject to CKD evaluation (assessed together with factors such as age).
* Reference ranges vary by testing facility, measurement method, age, sex, and other factors. Please check the reference range printed on your result sheet.
How to interpret an out-of-range result
A low result may suggest reduced kidney function. Because values can fluctuate temporarily, follow-up testing and assessment alongside urinary protein levels at a nephrology clinic or similar specialist setting is recommended.
