What is Endoscopy (Scope)?

Also written asScope / Fiberscope

An endoscopy involves inserting a thin, flexible tube with a camera at its tip through the mouth, nose, or anus to directly examine the interior of the esophagus, stomach, large intestine, and other organs. It allows for a detailed view of the color and texture of the mucosal lining, and a tissue sample (biopsy) can be taken on the spot if needed.

How to interpret an out-of-range result

If an abnormality is found during the examination, a biopsy or removal of the affected tissue may be performed. You can discuss the demands of the procedure and the option of sedation with the facility where you receive care.
