An examination that observes the blood vessels at the back of the eye to assess the effects of arteriosclerosis and diabetes.
This examination observes the blood vessels, retina, and optic nerve at the back of the eye (the fundus). The fundus is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be directly visualized, making it possible to assess the effects of diabetes, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis.
Particularly recommended for individuals who have been told they have diabetes or hypertension, and for those at risk of lifestyle-related diseases. It is also conducted under certain conditions as part of specified health checkups.
Screening interval: Optional to standard checkup item. For those with diabetes or hypertension, approximately once a year (consult your physician).
